Windows 95 Secrets and Tips from Valerie

Valerie has been learning and experimenting with Windows software since the original Windows 95 first came out as Beta.

Her column is updated every day or thereabouts, so check back often for new secrets and tips.

Take a look at the borders around the open windows on your desktop.

Wish they were a little bigger, so you'd have more to grab onto when you went to size them?

Then fatten them up a bit.

Right-click the desktop, select Properties, and click the Appearance tab.

Under Items, select Active Window Border, then adjust its Size to whatever you want.

(Watch the preview to see the effect of your change.)

Click OK, and from now on, all your windows will have larger borders.

Note: The Taskbar's borders will get bigger, too.

Do you have some Windows 95 tips or secrets to share or have a question?

You can Write to Valerie!.

Include your first initial and last name and put the word WIN95 in the subject.

I'll try to use your contribution in a future column.

(Please note that these columns are written several weeks in advance so publishing it will be delayed accordingly.)

Hope this helps tame that Windows beast a little.

There's also some secrets and tips for Windows 2000 and Windows 98.
